I've been reviewing recordings semi-professionally for a number of years, and it's a kind of writing I enjoy. In 2010, I started adding such reviews to this blog. Mostly I write about classical music, but I listen to other types of music, too, so you'll see my take on what I consider note-worthy new releases.
In addition to reviews, I've also written about various aspects of music (again, mostly classical). I recently started a series entitled the Consonant Composers Challenge (CCC).
The idea is to combat the notion that all contemporary music is ugly and emotionless. There are plenty of composers living and working today that create vibrant, engaging, and accessible original music. The goal of CCC series is to bring these composers -- and their works -- to the attention of the public.
